EIGHTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS REINSTATED A SIX MILLION DOLLAR PUNITIVE DAMAGE AWARD – In Stark v. Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard, PC, the Court of Appeals reinstated a six million dollar punitive damage arbitration award against a mortgage loan servicer.
JURY GIVES HOMEOWNER $1.25 MILLION – A Baltimore native who defaulted on a sub-prime loan has been awarded $1.25 million in damages from her lender, Wells Fargo Bank.
HOMEOWNER AWARDED $6 MILLION IN FRAUD CASE AGAINST US BANK – A Montana woman who sued US Bank alleging the company defrauded her when she sought a $300,000 loan to buy a condo in Bozeman has been awarded $6 million in damages.
QUICKEN LOANS ORDERED TO PAY $3.6 MILLION IN MORTGAGE CASE – A West Virginia court in Brown v Quicken Loans awarded Brown nearly $5 million including compensatory and punitive damages, and legal fees and costs, and Brown received an out of court settlement of $700,000 from the crooked appraiser.
YUBA JURY AWARDS HOMEOWNER $16 MILLION IN MORTGAGE CASE –A Yuba Superior Court jury awarded $16.2 million in damages to a homeowner who nearly lost his home to foreclosure after PHH botched his mortgage modification.
